Hi guys, long time to no post!
I'm known as the biggest bookworm in my year, yes I'm a nerd. So I thought it would be a good idea to start up this series: LilyReads. I'm that 'kewl' that I'm hoping this will kind of resemble an online book club *que whoops* There nothing more pleasing to me than discussing books, the satisfaction I get after talking about the characters within the book as if they are my best friends. Also getting recommendations for new books, as I want to branch out a little more in genres.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green is what I would classify as a teenage angst, young adult romance novel. The blurb says "Despite the tumour-shrinking medicine miracle that has bought her a few more years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten."
I became very attached to the main characters in the book, Hazel who sees herself as a kid with an unlucky story, a girl who is the typical teenager - little confidence, lazy, constantly off in the land of fantasy and very pessimistic. Then there is Augustus otherwise known as Gus, who won his battle against cancer - a typical boy who is undoubtedly the coolest fictional boy I have 'met' apart from James Gatz. The pair meet at the Cancer Kid Support Group and everything from then on is history, they go on an adventure and face the harsh reality.
The book is more than your average tragic love story, whether it's Augustus wit or Hazel's hilarious pessimistic comments the book really hit the spot. It was one of those books that you don't put down so for a few hours I was sucked into their world and when it finished I seriously didn't know what to do with my life, the feels! My tips for the book: prepare yourself emotionally for the ending and tissues will be necessary!
Let me down if you have read it - we can fangirl together! If you haven't read it YOU NEED TO READ IT ASAP!
